2018 PUPS Digest

2018 PupsUnite.org 5 Our 2017 year was a most memorable one! Even though our Pets Uniting People Society (P.U.P.S.) fundraising and income were close to its previous years, we have grown in the ways of helping pets and the people who love them. Here are our numbers for 2017: Cats Neutered/Spayed:. ................. 281 Dogs:..................................................... 2 Dot’s Connection Adoptions: ....... 140 Hopefully, these figures will gradually increase year-by-year. In addition, we want to increase the ways in which people find out about our group and what all we do. We share our mission with many people and place ads in other magazines and news- letters so people will know about our history and our ongoing quest to help animals and the people who love them. Look for our discounted ad in the local magazine On a Mission. Our group is just one of several pet protection organizations in Central Ohio. We are working on our 8th year in Clark County and surrounding areas. Our mission is education, awareness and responsibili- ty in animal welfare with a neuter/spay voucher program. Please note that one of our educational ads in this issue is about essential oils. Notice that this is a precautionary ad. We have learned about a few cases (I am one) where people and pets suffer from an allergic reaction from some of these oils. In one cat case, the reaction was so severe…it resulted in death of the cat. Use your own judgment wheth- er or not these oils are found to be safe for your environment. Our household chooses not to use them in our home. In addition, we’ve researched the Internet regarding other substances that may be hazardous and do not have them in our home as well. I like to go by that old motto: it’s better to be safe than sorry. All of us at Pets Uniting People Society (P.U.P.S.) would like to invite you to our biggest fundraiser of the year Autumn Leaves which takes place Saturday, September 15, 2018, 10am. Our board member Susan Pike (and her husband Andy) hosts this event each year for our group at the Springfield Country Club. It’s truly an awesome event. One receives a delicious breakfast and great entertainment from the auctioneer for only $25 per person. One might even walk away with a great auction deal! So mark your calendar for Saturday, September 15, 2018, 10am, Springfield Country Club. Director’s Message Carolyn Hayes Director
